It is an honor to address you as the Dean of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS) that successfully conducts Five Bachelor of Science degree programmes and a B. Pharm degree programme. The degree programmes offered by the faculty are in conformity with the recommendations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and with Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF). The learning outcomes of the curricula of each degree programme are well-matched with the twelve Intended Learning Outcomes(ILOs) of the level of descriptors (for SLQF 6) which are recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in Sri Lanka.

All the degree programmes have been designed to meet the vision and learning outcomes of the faculty as it produces graduates who could promote allied health and well-being in local and global communities. The undergraduates will acquire knowledge, skills and develop attitudes to perform tasks assigned in their respective disciplines to diagnose diseases, treatment and patient care in hospital and community. Therefore, they could progressively meet the expected attributes of the relevant qualification type at the end of the each degree programme.

There are numerous career prospects in your respective disciplines once you become graduates. You will be capable of developing careers as academics in universities and other affiliated educational institutions, research scientists in state & private sector institutions in Sri Lanka and also in overseas universities & affiliated institutions as healthcare administrators & marketeers in diagnostic laboratories and so on.

From the inception , the enthusiastic academic staff held fast to our core values of care, academic excellence, diversity, faith, justice and leadership. Our new goals focus on enhancing existing programs and building new programs, increasing our focus and integration of global and international competencies and experiences, deepening our community engagement, and intensifying our research and scholarship.

While the academic activities are progressing students will have opportunities to participate in several annual events and extracurricular activities. In addition, students and staff of the faculty jointly organize several annual entertaining events.

Finally, I wish you a pleasent time at FAHS and success in your future endevours.
